Share Budgets Together — First Update of the ‘Budget Book’ Feature in Money Keeper 👩‍❤️‍👨

Money Keeper · Only What You Need

Money Keeper · Track Money Easily

Hello there! 😎
The first update of the much-requested “Budget Book” feature is finally complete.
You can now share and manage your budgets together with your spouse, family, partner, or friends using the Money Keeper app 🙌
Since the app is designed to run at ⚡️lightning-fast speed, it is currently available only on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. So you can share your budget only with users who have Apple devices (those with an Apple iCloud account).

It felt like I was adding a whole new app inside Money Keeper~! 💪
Due to technical limitations, I had to delay this highly requested feature. But after restructuring to minimize those limitations, I’m thrilled to finally bring you the shared Budget Book feature 👍

I worked hard to make sure you can use it easily alongside your existing “Personal Budget Book (default book).”
To help you clearly distinguish which book you’re currently using, the color of the icon at the top-left of the home screen now changes based on the budget book. This also applies to the top of the income and expense input screens~! 🌈

The “Budget Book” feature is currently in beta.
In future updates, I plan to bring over features like “Monthly Summary” and “Search” that you’re already using in your Personal Budget Book.
Especially since the “Monthly Summary” is a core feature, I’ll prioritize getting it updated.
Also, currently, settings like “Start Day of Calendar” and “Currency” are shared across all budget books — but I’ll be updating the app so that each budget book can have its own settings.

You can access the shared Budget Book feature by tapping the button on the top-left of the home screen.
I’ve included detailed instructions with images on how to share your book.
Inviting and managing members is available on iPhone and iPad only. But once the budget book is shared, you can use it on Mac as well.
In other words, due to technical limitations, inviting and managing members isn’t available on Mac — but you can use shared budget books on Mac once the sharing is set up on iPhone or iPad 😄

If you find any bugs or issues, please feel free to report them through “Send Feedback” in the “More” tab! 📨

Even if you use multiple iCloud accounts, the “Budget Book” feature allows you to create and manage a shared budget between those accounts.

Also, many users have requested the ability to create multiple budget books — and I’m happy to say the foundation for that feature has been laid in this update!
I’ll share more updates as progress continues 😊

Here are a few additional updates that were also included 🙏

📌 To make the “selected Budget Book” more visible on iPad and Mac, the “Today & Month Navigation” button has been moved to the top-right of the screen.

📌 In the “Monthly Summary” of the Personal Budget Book, when expanding subcategories, I’ve improved the UI so that empty categories no longer show “No subcategory.”

📌 Also in the “Monthly Summary,” the “No subcategory” bar now has a slight transparency, making it more distinguishable from main categories and blending better with subcategories.

Building the Money Keeper Community Together 🌷

I’ve started a Reddit community called ‘r/MoneyKeeper’ where we can share our budgeting knowledge, experiences, and support each other in reaching our goals.
It’s still early, and I’m not yet sure what kind of threads or content will be most helpful for your budgeting journey — but I’ll continue to develop the community step by step! If you’re interested, I’d love for you to stop by and join in 🙏
